Site of the Month – February 2011
How long have you hosted sacred-ceremony.com with Lunarpages and which hosting plan are you using?
Jacqueline: Live since November 2009. Basic plan.
Describe your average visitor to sacred-ceremony.com.
Jacqueline: Visitors to my site are seeking someone to help them create and facilitate a life passage with a wedding, memorial or blessing ceremony.
Tell us a bit about your site and what you do there.
Jacqueline: I create personal, meaningful and heartfelt ceremonies. I believe it is important that a ceremony brings people together and that it is very personal for everyone present. It is an honor to serve as a marriage or funeral officiant, I treat each ceremony with great care, respect and love.
Tell us about the design of your site. Did you design it yourself?
Jacqueline: I had a specific and clear vision that was beautifully translated by the talented Evanne Grate at egrate.com.
You were ordained in 1985. Was it via the internet?
Jacqueline: Ha! No, I didn’t have a clue about the internet at that time! I was ordained by the community of Temple of Living Prayer in Sacramento. I co-founded the Temple and served as pastor for over 10 years.
What is a blessing ceremony?
Jacqueline: A ceremony begins with intention. What do you want to commemorate and express? There is an invocation of Spirit. A blessing ceremony supports a greater sense of connectedness for self, family, and community. It provides a heartfelt opportunity to join together to celebrate, support and witness life transitions.
Do you mostly perform wedding ceremonies?
Jacqueline: At this time, yes. I also periodically facilitate meditations with Tibetan bowls at Wilbur Hot Springs.
There is a poems and readings section on your website. Do you write most of these? Which is your favorite passage?
Jacqueline: I have curated a collection of over 60 poems and passages for significant life passages. (They are not my writings, although the accompanying photos are mine.) There are several selections on my site, I offer my clients a file where they can choose from my collection. I also have a collection of wedding vow samples. Here is a poem that speaks to me:
Stream of Life
By Rabindranath Tagore
The same stream of life that runs through my veins night and day
runs through the world and dances in rhythmic measures.
It is the same life that shoots in joy through the dust of the earth
in numberless blades of grass
and breaks into tumultuous waves of leaves and flowers.
It is the same life that is rocked in the ocean-cradle of birth
and of death, in ebb and in flow.
I feel my limbs are made glorious by the touch of this world of life.
And my pride is from the life-throb of ages dancing in my blood this moment.
Tell us about your most memorable wedding ceremony.
Jacqueline: Oh, I couldn’t possibly choose. There was one a couple of years ago….where I had distinctly felt waves of love washing over us. Later, while driving home over the Bay Bridge, I experienced a unique state of bliss. In another wedding, we laughed and laughed! I could go on and on… there have been so many amazing gatherings.
I love getting to know my clients and co-creating a ceremony that is uniquely their own. Often times we only meet once face-to-face to prepare. One of the greatest compliments is when a friend or relative asks me how I know the couple. Then I know I’ve done a good job representing them and their style. As well for funerals when I’ve written a eulogy for someone I’d never met.
Does your online business sustain your lifestyle or do you have an additional job?
Jacqueline: I am counselor, an astrologer. Lunarpages also hosts my other site www.AstroSpirit.com. I’m due for a redesign and I’m excited to integrate a blog for the newsletter I’ve been writing for over 11 years, AstroFlash!
How has the internet helped your business?
Jacqueline: Although people continue to hear about me through community and friends, I am delighted that clients find me online. I’m also on FaceBook.
How do you prefer to spend your offline time?
Jacqueline: Dancing with my awesome friends and community. Photographing bees. . Communing with the natural world.
How has your experience been with us so far when using our social media resources (Twitter/Facebook)?
Jacqueline: I read your FB posts.
Have you contacted support and if so, did you use email or phone support? How was the experience?
Jacqueline: I have contacted support several times over the years; I’ve been a client of Lunarpages since 2006. Both via email and by phone: everyone has been friendly, helpful and on the ball!
Now, let’s have a bit of fun.
What is your favorite sound?
Jacqueline: silence punctuated with birdsongs. I also have an abiding fondness for polyrhythm and funky breaks.
What is your idea of heaven?
Jacqueline: compassion, respect and kindness.
What is one thing you miss as a kid but no longer do or can do?
Jacqueline: gosh, I never think about missing my childhood. Life is so interesting now!
If you could be anyone for a day, who would it be and why?
Jacqueline: for a WHOLE DAY?
Pencil or pen?
Jacqueline: pen.
Trip to the cinema or a DVD at home?
Jacqueline: I’d rather be dancing.
Favorite food?
Jacqueline: organic, sustainably grown.
Twitter or Facebook?

Domain name you wished you owned?
Jacqueline: AstroFlash.com I began writing my astropoetic newsltetter, AstroFlash! In August of 1999. Several years later, I searched for the domain and found it was already in use. I chose AstroSpirit.com, but I still use AstroFlash! as the name for my newsletter.
