Lunar Picks November – Holiday Shopping
This month with holidays just around the corner we ask our team…
How early do you start holiday shopping and where do you shop (i.e. online, department stores etc)?
Jonathon – My fiancé has forbidden me from shopping for the girls in our family, but I’ve been appointed the official gift shopper for all the guys! All the guys we shop for are video game buffs! This makes things easy. Either I’ll buy them a video game I know they’ll like or get them gift cards from Gamestop. Makes it really easy and all my shopping is done within an hour. I do this about two months ahead of time!
Orlando - I shop the same day only because I love all the crazy traffic and people fighting over the last item. You will see me usually people watching at the mall. It’s great!
James – I like to start about December 24, in the afternoon, prior to the store closing. Makes it easier to decide what to buy since I am limited to what is left.
Greg – This is the first year that I am already done. Normally I wait til at least 12/23 and race out to stores with ideas only to find that the stores have already been picked through. This year my girls got a trip to Maui.
Katrina – I start Black Friday in November in regular stores and online.
Monty – A few days before the holidays start at department store.
Amy – Online all the way, usually about 2 months early! It’s much easier finding items in stock and on special. I usually purchase from Amazon.com, eBay, Surf/Skate stores and my latest find is etsy.com (uber cool vintage items).
Joe – One or two days before is when I normally start shopping for the holidays. The place for me to shop would be a department store. However, I would prefer making a handmade gifts as a present instead of buying things from the department store
Matt - I am a last minute shopper even though I tell myself I won’t do that again the following year, but I do. Usually department stores, very little online.
Chad – Luckily my fiancé is a shopaholic. I usually hand her some cash and she hammers all our Christmas shopping out in 1-2 days during the first week of December. If all goes well I wouldn’t have stood in one checkout line.
Michael - We always wait till the last minute (OK, not the wife but me) and I do most of our final shopping in stores (usually malls). Mainly do it that way because I like going out into all the crowds, wandering around watching all the mayhem.
