Lunarpages LOVES the Moonwalk!

Author: Mitch Keeler

Love him or hate him, there is no doubt that Michael Jackson’s passing has almost been the end of an era for many people.  Personally, as a child of the ‘80s, this is almost a nail in the coffin for that decade, because back then, Michael Jackson was the man.

Now sure, there were a lot of controversies in the years to follow, but I think most people these days would rather remember the good days, rather that the… well, not bad, but maybe strange days would be the best way to describe the next two decades that leads use to this date and time.

So, in tribute to the “King of Pop” our Lunar-crew decided to list some of their favorite Michael Jackson songs and let you know why they love them.

Brittany (Billing CSR) Will You Be There “Because Free Willy was my favorite movie when I was little.”

Tiara Rea (Affiliate Program Manager) – it’s a toss-up between Man in the Mirror and Will You Be There, “because (though it was nearly impossible to choose!) both songs really show the depth of his musical talent, passion, and incredibly introspective voice in lyrics; I remember getting chills when I heard Will You Be There for the first time.”

Natalie (CSR/Retention) Got to Be There “cause even though I’m not a guy singing it to a girl, it reminds me of my daughter, Adrienne.”

Mitch (Business Development Specialist) Thriller “Remember watching this video at least once on or around Halloween for many years through my childhood.”

Amy (MissChief of Bizz Dev) ABC. “I love that song: it’s so 70s! Every time I hear it, it puts me in a great mood.”

Matthew (CSR) The Way you make me feel. “It makes me want to dance”

Katie (CSR) Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough “I like it because it was released in 1979, from the album ‘ Off the wall’, and Michael wrote the lyrics to this song. Its the song that made him a star!!!”

Daniel (Trainer) Beat It “because the lyrics are fun and it lent itself to a great parody: Eat It by Weird Al ;)

Katrina (Supervisor) Thriller – “Because I love the dance that goes with it. Very cool even today.”

Louie (National Sales Manager) I’ll Be There “At the time this song was popular, I had a serious crush on a girl I met at Summer Camp named Cathy who was then a Counselor in Training. She also happened to be a Sophomore in High School and I was a lowly 8th grader. Talk about a challenge. I’d ride my bike to her house which was close to mine and merely hang out like a lost puppy in love. Through a neighbors intrusion, it got back to the high school she attended that she was dating an 8th grader. Although the embarrassment almost ended our relationship before it started, I won her over when I beat up a Junior who was teasing her for being interested in a Junior High School student. When I finally asked her to go steady, I told Cathy, ‘if you need me, I’ll be there’.”

Daniel M. (CSR) There’s no way to pick just one Michael Jackson song. He was, and will always be, the King of Pop.

Randy (Billing Specialist) Hard to pick just one. ‘Thriller’ definitely his best work, but I would have to pick ‘I`m Bad’ because I can relate since I`m so ‘bad’ ! Second would be Billy Jean since I perform it often with a local band and third would be ‘Ben’ ’cause, hey, I`m a Rat !. Wait, you said one ? lol

Deb (Billing CSR) Man In The Mirror – “I think it has a positive message that reminds us that change (of any type) begins within each of us.  That’s the starting point. ”

Orlando (Quality Assurance) Rock with You- “Love the clothes, moves, lights and specially his look- He looked so full of life!!!”

Charles (CSR) Heal the world “cause this song is really does heal the world.”

Flora (CSR) Man in the Mirror “because it holds a powerful and beautiful meaning”

Roy (Billing Department CSR) Smooth Criminal “I love this song because of the video and it is just a timeless classic of a song. As soon as you hear the beat, you know EXACTLY what song it is and you remember the Sooth Criminal lean in the video.”

David (CSR) Heal the world “Cause when MJ came to my country, this song is very popular and it very melodious for me.”

How about you? What was your favorite Michael Jackson song from over the years, and why?  Sound off – and let us know.

Man in the Mirror is one of my all time favorites as it’s lyrics represent MJ’s true vision; Changing oneself in order to make the world a better and more loving place. In his memory I have a tattoo artist designing a “Man in the Mirror” piece for me :D

    I LOVE MICHAEL!!!!
There isn’t anyway I can pick one song. His discography is too big. Here’s a few favs that span several albums:
    Get On The Floor
Don’t Stop Til’ You Get Enough
    You Rock My World
    Earth Song

I don’t think he ever had a “bad” one. ABC was the first I remember from him. Then, BEN… I could feel that song. Now, for me it is Man In The Mirror — All the others are good to great, but these hold to me personally. The music is great, but for me, it’s all in the carefully written lyrics. We Are the World set him into another aspect all together…collaboration at it’s finest. I agree, Thriller was a “first” with the video, so it was special, but Michael could do that. By looking at him, he changed that Man In the Mirror from the 60′s to now! How can you REALLY just pick one!

But, there was other things about Michael — he was VERY charitable. He wrote and sang about true feeling, true caring.

Roze (I know I am late at responding, but been a rough year here)
