5 Freebies for June!
Author: Tiara Rea
I love free stuff (who doesn’t?). Whenever I go to hotels, I always steal the little shampoo and lotion bottles (my favorite is from South Point in Vegas!!), and whenever I go to Olive Garden I am obsessed with those chocolate mints they give you after dinner. Free stuff always has the ability to make me smile, because stuff is so much cooler when it doesn’t cost a cent.
So as a little summer gift for you guys, here are 5 awesome Freebies that you can use to design, redesign, or cleanup your website!
1. Free Website Builder/Editor
Pixie CMS
I call it a phenomenal CMS, they call it “a small, simple, website maker”. In fact, it’s both, and it’s one of the coolest website builders you’ll find. One of the most unique features of Pixie is that it comes with a custom installer, which allows you to decide what type of website you are going to create. For example, a Pixie site for a blog will be a bit different than one for your business. Pixie is still growing, so I imagine the list of outstanding features will just multiply with time!
Mitch reviewed this for the Lunarpages Blog, and it’s just fantastic! I love WYSIWYG (what-you-see-is-what-you-get) editors, and this one just blew me away. It allows you to add, position, and/or edit content areas using pop-up menus. Really, you have to try it to believe that it’s free! The best part (besides the No Cost pricetag)? It has a built-in spell check!
If you are looking for an advanced WYSIWYG website builder, check out Lunarpages Quicksite Hosting: the 1-2-3 website solution that gets you up and running in 2 hours or less.

2. Free Ecommerce Templates
Smashing Magazine did an amazing review of 35 Free High-Quality Ecommerce Templates, so I can’t even hope to compete with their phenomenal list. There are free templates for WordPress, osCommerce, Zen Cart, CubeCart, and more. It really has something for everyone.
After all, sometimes shopping carts can be boring, so take advantage of all these free templates and try them out! Especially the ones for osCommerce, Zen, and Cube carts, because those are the ones you can install at Lunarpages with 1-click ease.
3. Free SEO Tools
Keyword Suggestion Tool: This is extremely helpful if you are trying to get your website ranked in Google for really competitive industries. Simply enter the keyword of your choice and this tool will suggest alternatives for you. For example, my search for “business web hosting” turned up: small business web hosting, web hosting business to business, and others I may never have thought of.
4. Free Page Peel Effect
Have you ever seen those websites that have a peel icon at the top righthand corner of their webpage? It looks something like this:

Well, with this little tutorial, you can do it too! Just check out Simple Page Peel Effect and you’ll be able to promote products, advertise special areas of your website, or even link to Lunarpages via our Affiliate Program to earn some extra money.
5. Free Customizable Icons for Your Website
I love icons! They are even better when they’re free, too. So check out Iconza and download their awesome icons for every aspect of your website—from Error icons, Music downloads, Photos, Save, RSS Feeds and more, they have literally more than you can imagine. Plus, you can choose the exact color, size, and background color that will perfectly suit your website. And if you click around, you’ll see some hysterical little animated characters. The mole with the hardhat is my fav.
If you guys have any freebies you know of, please feel free to share them with us!
