Tip on Organizing Your Projects in the Browser

Author: Mitch Keeler

Organizing is one of my favorite things to do.  I think it is caused by having so much junk, I need to have a way to navigate through it all.  One place where you can get a little lost with your pile-o-links is your web site’s URLs and related URLs.

Here is how I organize my own web sites that I work on:

Web Site Folder Organization Tips

As you can see, each web site belongs to a group.  Here we have the Lunarpages project sites I work on, my Lunarpages test sites, and then my own personal projects.  This allows me to separate my work-related sites from my personal ones.  From there, I have each web site listed by name or domain.  Depending on how many web sites you manage, you might be able to cut out the first layer of organization.

Now inside of your domain’s folder – you want to include all the links that may be important to that web site.  Depending on the kind of web site it is, your links may vary some from mine, but here are some ideas.

  • The Main Web Site
  • Your cPanel or Plesk Login Page
  • The Lunarpages Login Page
  • Any Script’s (if you have one) Admin Page
  • Your Google Analytics Page (if you have it up and running)

The possibilities go on and on.  This way, you don’t have to hunt through your e-mails to find your welcome e-mail to get your correct login information to get into your site.  You will have everything saved and organized in your browser.

I have just kept mind all dumped into my bookmarks folder. Looks like it is time for me to do some inspired rearranging.
