Adding Advanced Features to LPQuicksite – Forwarding Email

Author: Tiara Rea

If you are following along in this LPQuicksite Tutorial Series on Adding Advanced Website Features to your LPQuicksite, you’ll know this is the final installment! By now you know there are just so many features on LPQuicksite but you can also go above and beyond the norm to add counters, create email accounts, setup auto-responders, and even add contact forms.

There really isn’t anything LPQuicksite can’t do! ;)

Now we’ll cover forwarding emails, a really fun trick that maintains your professionalism while allowing for convenience.

This is Part 5 of the 5-Part tutorial series, so if you have any comments, suggestions, questions, or recommendations for future series, please just let us know:

A lot of customers we’ve worked with over the years have asked us the same simple question over and over again: How can I get my emails from my website at my Yahoo/Gmail/Hotmail account?

Sometimes, email programs like Outlook or Thunderbird are too complicated for new users or you may just want to stick with the status quo. Maybe you have always received email through Yahoo and just don’t want to change that or maybe you really love Gmail and just like getting your mail at that account.

Whatever the reason, forwarding email is easy and wonderfully convenient! Email forwarding takes your email from an address like yourname@yourLPQuicksite.com and forwards it to whatever location you’d like, such as youraccount@gmail.com! That way, your customers or audience can email a professional address, but you can still respond without having to setup Outlook or check into webmail.

So let’s set up an email to forward!

5. Forwarding Email

The first step is to ensure you have an email account setup for your LPQuicksite account. Go back and view our 2nd segment, Creating Email on LPQuicksite, so that you’ve got at least one email address created. This is the email your website viewers will see when they email you, though we will be forwarding everything sent there to your personal email for convenience.

After you’ve created an email address, login to your LPQuicksite Control Panel via YourLPQuicksite.com/cpanel and click on the “Forwarder” icon:

You should see two different types of forwarders on this page: Email Account Forwarders and Email Domain Forwarders. The difference between these two is that Email Account Forwarders will forward one single email address to another single email address. For example, YourName@YourLPQuicksite.com could go to laurenbrie00987@yahoo.com. Email Domain Forwarders will forward every email address to another single email address. For example, YourName@YourLPQuicksite.com, YourBusiness@YourLPQuicksite.com, and Info@YourLPQuicksite.com could all be forwarded to laurenbrie00987@yahoo.com

For this instance, I’d recommend setting up an Email Account Forwarder so click on “Add Forwarder”:

Once there, you will see several fields.

1. Address

In the blank box next to the “Address to Foward” field, enter the email account you want to be forwarded. In my example above, YourName@YourLPQuicksite.com, you would type in “YourName” because you should already see “@YourLPQuicksite.com” listed beside it.

2. Destination

Choose “Forward to an Email Address” and enter that email address in the blank box beside it. Do not worry about the other two advanced options under destination – you will more than likely never need these.

3. Advanced Options

Ignore this section completely. :)

Once you’ve filled in the above, click “Add Forwarder” and you’re done!:

Well, that’s it for the tutorial series! If you have suggestions for more LPQuicksite tutorials, please let us know in the comments so we can get to work.

After forwarding from LP, how can I get the mail that has been forwarded to be deleted on server? Thanks.

Earl – simply delete the email account from LPQuicksite but leave the Email Forwarder intact. :) It sounds weird, but trust me the email will still forward correctly without storing anything on the server.
