Get to Know Yahoo! Site Explorer

Tons of people know about Google’s Webmaster Tools, but not that many are familiar with the same set of tools that Yahoo! provides for all the webmasters out there.  Yahoo! Site Explorer is another service to look into if you want to see how your information is being used by Yahoo! search.

To get started, visit the Yahoo! Site Explorer page, and put your URL into the “Add My Site” text box.  Once verified and into the system Yahoo has added some neat things you can do to interact with them on the behalf of your web site.

Click on your site name, and you can see if your site has been authenticated, the title, the number of feeds you have submitted, the number of pages indexed, and the number of dynamic URL rewrites you have created via the tools Yahoo! provides.

Some of the statistics they provide include:  indexed pages, crawled pages, known pages, hosts linking to your site, domains linking to your site, and more.  The Dynamic URLs tab is available for authenticated sites and allows a site owner to provide Yahoo! Search information about the dynamic parameters available on their site.  You can also choose to delete URLs from Yahoo! so they will no longer crawl them with their search engine spiders.

For more help with the service, I would suggest checking out Yahoo!’s special Site Explorer help section.  There are tons of questions answered there.
