Five Most Popular SMF Mods

Looking to add a little more functionality to an already great forum script?  SMF (Simple Machines Forum) is one of my all time favorite forum scripts.  Here are the top five mods you can install to make it even better.

1.  Auto Embed Video/Audio Clips (AEVAC)

This allows you to automatically embed video and audio clips in your SMF forum posts from over 180+ sites.  Some of these sites include:  YouTube, DailyMotion, MetaCafe, Google Video, and more.  to use, all you have to do is post the link to the video, and the mod take care of the rest of the work.

2.  Ad Management mod

Need some assistance with where or how your ads are used on your forums?  This mod brings a lot of new features to the table. Version 2.3 includes placement for “Skyscraper” ads as well as individual placement on threads and in between posts. You can also view reports on your ads to see how often they are getting displayed.

3.  SimplePortal

Want to make your forums look less like your traditional set of forums and more like a portal?  This is the mod you need.  This modification is a simple portal mod which completely integrates with SMF. (pictured above)

4.  YouTube BBCode

    SMF is great.. It is the only forum script I have used though. The mods are written by members of the community and not just the SMF team so support for them is real good too. Also if you want a feature or have an idea normally you just post what you are after and someone comes along and gives you a hand with it. I’ve been a SMF member for a couple of years now and have made some good internet friends from all over the world too.
