Adding Advanced Features to LPQuicksite – Enabling Auto Responders

Author: Tiara Rea

If you are following along in this LPQuicksite Tutorial Series on Adding Advanced Website Features to your LPQuicksite, you have probably already added a website counter and are watching your visitors roll through and may have already got a couple emails delivered to your inbox! For this month’s installment, I’ll show you how to enable those awesome auto responders that let your visitor’s or customers know you are on vacation, that you need 24 hours to reply, or really any message you’d like.

Remember, this is Part 3 of the 5-Part tutorial series, so if you have any comments, suggestions, questions, or recommendations for future segments, please just let us know:

We all go on vacation and dread the day we come back and read our email, only to find 5,000 new messages! Well, while I can’t help you cut back on the legitimate emails you receive, I can show you a great way to let your website visitors or customers know that you are away from your email and won’t be able to respond until you get back.

This is also a really worthwhile setup if you only plan to read your email once/week, if you promise your customers or visitors a response in X amount of time or less, or even if you just want to let anyone who emails you know you’ve received their message. So following along and setting this up when you’re ready can be a great addition to your LPQuicksite.

3. Enabling Auto Responders

Auto responders are simply an automatic email that is generated from your email address to the sender, that provides the sender a message about your status. It could say, “Hi! I’ve received your email and will respond as soon as possible. Thanks!” or “I will be out of the office from May 15 to June 14″ or even “We respond to all emails within 24 hours”, etc. Your possibilities are endless, and it’s a lot of fun to use these auto responders when you’re away! At the very least, it will let your customers know you received their email and not to worry.

So the first step to enabling auto responders is to login to manage your LPQuicksite. Visit http://www.YourDomain.com/cpanel to login using the username and password you were assigned upon signup.

Once there, you will see 7 or so different email icons. Click on the one that says “Auto Responders”:

Then, click on the button that says “Add Auto-Responder”:

On the next page, you will need to create the actual information that will display on your automatically-sent email response.

* Character Set: Do not worry about this – simply leave as is
* Email: Enter the email address you have already created. For example, YourName.
* From: Choose how you would like your email to display your name or business name.
* Subject: Choose an appropriate subject for the auto responder, such as “Thanks for emailing” or “YourBusienss.com is on vacation”.
*Body: Enter the text as you wish it to appear when emailed.

Here is an example of an appropriate auto responder:

Once you are finished, click “Create/Modify” and you’re done! There are also some helpful HTML email tags you can use to personalize your auto responder:

%from% – this will insert the name of the sender into your auto responder
%subject% – inserts the subject line of the sender’s email into your auto responder
%email% – inserts the sender’s email address into your auto responder

So the above template I used will have the greeting of “Hello NAME” as whatever NAME the sender has on their email program. If it was from me, it would say, “Hello Tiara,”.

So that’s it! Another very easy setup from LPQuicksite and a very important tool for business owners or individuals.
