Have we ever mentioned how much we love WordPress? Naw, I’m sure we haven’t ever written articles on its use as a content management system, run contests giving away prizes for WP theme designers, offered nearly 230 free WordPress themes, or used it personally for any of our blogs. No sir, no way.

Okay, what a lie! Here at Lunarpages, talking about how much we love WordPress is like breathing and blinking – it just comes naturally. Because we want to really inspire the creative WordPress web designers out there, we are once again running our WordPress Theme Design Competition, with nearly $2500 in prizes!

To enter, all you need to do is submit your original and NEW WordPress theme over on our Lunarpages blog. From there, we’ll start picking our top 5 weekly favorites to showcase and compete for the weekly vote. The winners of each weekly round will automatically move on to battle one another in the contest finals at the end of the competition, where our community, staff, and even CEO will help decide the final winners!

Our absolutely fabulous prizes are better than ever:

• First Place - $1,000 and 5 Years Free Web Hosting on Lunarpages Basic Plan
• Second Place - $300 and 3 years hosting
• Third Place - $100 and 1 year hosting

And since our CEO was caught off guard by the phenomenal talent in the competition, he picked one theme that impressed him most to receive free hosting. We loved this idea and decided to implement it into series 3, so we have added the following two bonus awards:

• CEO Choice - The Theme that impresses our CEO the most will win 1 Year Free Hosting
• Staff Choice - The Theme with the most Lunarpages staff votes will win 1 Year Free Hosting

Check out the Rules before you enter, as a couple things have changed, and then submit your free WordPress themes and get started! New submissions close October 12, 2008, and winners will be announced October 22, 2008.

1st place - Lilicious by Liza Kliko

Her amazing WordPress theme is available for download by clicking on the image of it above. She also won our very first WP Theme Contest, so she is a force to be reckoned with, especially considering 75% of our staff voted for her as the contest winner. Liza won herself $1,000 + 5 years free hosting! Liza also contributed the following fantastic themes:

2nd place – Phunk Attack by Dulce Rose Lada

This was one of my personal favorite themes and not the only one submitted by Dulce. Winning $300 and 3 years free hosting, she also had submitted the following amazing themes to our competition (remember, you can download any of them 100% free by clicking on their image!):

3rd place – Aero Inspirat by Anne!

Anne’s fresh and clean design won over our development team as well as the community voters, awarding her $100 and 1 year free hosting from Lunarpages! Anne also submitted Mierva Aqua, another uber-clean WordPress theme:
