What is an add-on domain?
An add-on domain is a domain that points to a folder within your web folder. An add on domain allows you to run a separate web site to your primary domain. When you create an add on domain, it makes a folder in your public_html folder and you upload the site content into that folder. So essentially you are running 2 or more separate sites, separate content, off one account using the same control panel. Add-on domains also allow you to create email addresses for that additional domain name.
What Can I Do With Unlimited Add-on Domains?
Now where and why does this become handy? Well, now you can add more domains in on one hosting plan. That means more perks for you which we don’t mind giving out because we love each and every one of our customers. Now it might take a while before the upgrades are pushed out to every single server, but give us a few days and we will get the upgrade out to one and all.

I’ve been happy and satisfied with Lunarpages for nearly a year on hosting with them. Though I was limited to hosting 10 addon domains, I continue to stick with Lunarpages because I have proven its sincerity in the hosting business. Because of the 10 addon domains I was forced to create several subdomains via my main domain. Now I will be removing my subdomains and will add my other domains which have been dormant under GoDaddy.
I am also an active affiliate of LP. I place Lunarpages link in any of my blog networks and forum signatures. I believe that I should support LP in all ways I can because Lunarpages has been so faithful to its promise of reliable and honest service.

I just want to thank the Lunarpages staff for making your company such a joy to have as a personal web host. I can’t say that my personal web site will ever require the amount of space or bandwidth that I originally signed up for almost a year ago, but now even that limit does not matter. You’ve truly empowered me to do whatever I can imagine. Thank you Lunarpages Staff!

This has got to be about the best thing since sliced bread!!! I have a ton of domains but I love the service at Lunar and I was about to purchase an additional account until I got the email for the newsletter. I think LunarPages has got to be one of the best if not the best hosting company have used. Now we just need to be able to install our own secure certificates on our sites and we will be ready to go!!!

This is a very generous offer for an already very generous plan. I’m wondering, why would anyone opt for their own VPS account when a basic account allows unlimited domains. What is the downside to hosting add on domains under a single account?

I’ve been with Lunar Pages for two years and I am extremely happy with their service. Their customer service is top notch and the best in the industry. They have always gone above and beyond to help me out.
I absolutely love the fact that we can now have unlimited websites because I really wanted to transfer my other websites to Lunar Pages because Lunar Pages is truly a company that can be trusted and loved but it wasn’t feasible. Even with their already competitive prices. Now I can and you can surely bet that I will be transferring my other websites to Lunar Pages and I can assure you, I will absolutely love being a customer of theirs more and more!

It doesn’t apply to Windows Hosting, so no difference for me. Actually when checking I just noticed that on the Windows has also been a change, but for WORSE. What used to be 10 add on domains max. its now 2. And it cost $2.5/month as has always been. A good alternative that I got is GoDaddy, Windows Hosting Unlimited Domains FREE!

This is what I’ve been waiting for! Every update I’m excited to see what else you guys are offering. You never fail to amaze me with the constant goodies and upgrades you give for all your plans. I was reluctant to pick up sites to host on because I had a limited amount of add-ons. But now (in conjunction with all the space and other stuff you offer) I don’t have to worry about hosting several sites.
Just want to say I think you guys are great and I’m so glad I saw that Lunarpages banner add a year and a half ago! Keep up the great work!

I joined LunarPages last year after several different so-called “top” hosting services dissappointed me with limitations and poor customer service. LP has blown the doors off those companies. When I had a problem, THEY called ME on the phone!! Who else does that?? Price, Tools, Size, Customer Service – LP does it all better. Glad to be on board with you guys. If you are not with LP, switch now – you won’t regret it.

You guys rock! In the three years I’ve been hosting my business with you, I don’t think I’ve ever really needed any of the free upgrades that you’ve provided, but I really appreciate the fact that you continue to provide them to your current customers, not just to new customers. On second thought, I am actually taking advantage of multiple free MySQL databases. You guys really rock!

I am a customer of lunarpages for last three years and I absolutely have no complaints till now. The best service both space and price wise. I have already recommended to many people to host with lunarpages for worry free service. Every year I see lunarpages coming up with new and essential free packages name it, coffeecup, space increase, not unlimited number of addon domins and I strongly believe the list is more and more will be coming as the time passess. This is GREAT! LP is really committed to good service and I appreciate it!
I’d love to host the .mobi domains that I have but have used up most of my
addons at this point. Cpanel won’t let me add anymore, trust me, I tried!
I read a mention of waiting for upgrades?? Can anyone tell me when I’ll
be able to add more addon domains to my account? I just reupped for another
two years and it’s even better than I thought! I can’t remember but I think this
makes for my 5th year at LP……

Steve: A VPS account is better suited for resource-intensive websites that require better RAM and less people sharing the server (on VPS, you have 23 ppl, whereas with Basic you may have 300). Also, you get SSH access and can resell the space, etc. Maybe I’ll write up an article for next month’s issue to best explain some benefits and differences.

First, let me thank you, Lunarpages, for this change. I’ve stuck by you loyally ever since I came to LP, after some not-so-good treatment by Globat. You guys excel in every way that they don’t, and you’ve made me a loyal customer for life. Keep up the great service (including customer service – a deciding factor for me). I recommend you to everyone who wants to run a website.
Second: I want to be clear on this. If I host more domains through my primary, they will have their own unique address, and not “mydomain.com/addon_domain”?
