Lunar FAQs - CHMOD, Missing Images and Changing Plans

Author: Mitch Keeler

I get the honor and privilege to talk with a lot of Lunar-customers day in and day out. Between newsletter issues, I was able to jot down a few questions that seemed to come up again and again so I could share the answers with you all.

What does CHMOD or “Change Permissions” mean?

It means to set a certain permission on the file or directory. The most common chmod commands are 644, 755 and 777. You can chmod in cPanel in file manager by selecting the file and clicking on “Change Permissions”.

My web site is not showing any images? The HTML and layout looks fine, but where is my picture of Aunt Judy in a sombrero?

This could be caused by a number of issues, all usually pretty easy to take care of. First thing you need to check is if the images was uploaded to the correct spot. Right-click on where the image should be or check your code - and then use an FTP client or your control panel’s file manager to browse to that location on your account.

You may have forgotten to upload it or uploaded it somewhere else by mistake. On our linux-based hosting accounts they don’t like spaces in filenames and they treat capitals and lowercase letters as completely different letters. It is best to name files in all lowercase. Don’t worry, Aunt Judy and her large Mexican hat will be found!

Can I change from my current Lunarpages plan to another one?

Sure, you can change your hosting plan at any time. You could go from Linux to Windows, from Windows to Linux, from Basic to Business, and more. Just contact us and we will walk you through the process step by step.

You may also find that enabling hotlink protection will cause images to not show up. I have several subdomains and add-on domains. I had hotlink protection set on my main domain: fortvir.net. In order for images to show up on my other domains/subdomains, I had to enter the domain in the hotlink protection as authorized to hotlink. Once I did that, my pictures showed up fine.
